If you want to bring a smile to the face of Prairie View A&M Head Coach Eric Dooley all you have to do is mention the name Storey Jackson.
The senior linebacker has been a very intricate piece to the Panthers 2-0 record this season leading a defense that ranks second in points allowed (14.5) and sacks (10) in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
On Monday, Jackson was awarded for his play on the field being named the SWAC Defensive Player of the Week after registering 17 total tackles, two sacks, an interception and a game ending forced fumble that secured the victory over Grambling State 17-10 in the State Fair Classic.
"I'm not surprised at what Storey's doing," Coach Dooley said after the game this past Saturday. "I know the work he's putting in at all phases…and the best part about it is that his work ethic on the field also reflects in his academics."
Jackson, who leads the nation in tackles (34) was also named the College Sports Madness National Defensive Player of the Week.
