The Preacher’s Wife was a movie released in 1996 based on a church that was struggling financially and was on the brink of despair until an Angel from heaven appears to help save the church from being acquired by a real estate developer looking to build on the property.

Sidenote. The movie is really good and has some big-time names in it such as the late great Whitney Houston, Denzel Washington, Courtney B. Vance, etc. I recommend watching it if you haven’t already.

I Digress.

The movie’s soundtrack has a song titled, “Hold On, Help Is On The Way” that include the lyrics in the chorus:

“Hold on,

Help is on the way”

Now I don’t know how spiritual Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas is, but if I have to take an educated guess, I will say that he has done some praying in his alone time or maybe even on the bench during this current 18-game losing streak which is also a franchise record.

On Friday, coach Silas may hum the aforementioned song to himself before game time as it is likely he could have all his starters back in the lineup as Houston prepares to take on the Detroit Pistons. Starting point guard John Wall, who has been sidelined after suffering a knee contusion in practice over a week ago, could join Victor Oladipo in the backcourt against the Pistons as he has been upgraded on the NBA’s injury report from out to questionable.

Earlier this week the Rockets were able to insert center Christian Wood and forward Danuel House Jr. back into the lineup after both had missed significant time due to injuries. Wood had not played a game since Feb. 4, showed flashes of why he was talked about as a potential participant in the 2021 All-Star Game scoring 21 points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

“I am going to play hard and give everything I have during my minutes restriction,” said Wood after the loss to Golden State on Wednesday. “I am going to try to find my rhythm a little earlier because today I found it in the second half instead of first half.”

Although having a full roster is a welcomed sight in the Rockets locker room, coach Silas has been around the NBA long enough to know that it takes more than just bodies to win a game.

“We can’t rest on the fact that we have a full roster,” coach Silas said. “We have to play the right way and have attention to details. We will have more depth and more options, but we have to play well. It isn’t the who. It’s the what and the what hasn’t been great over a period of time.”

Tip-off is at 7p.m. CST at Toyota Center
