Rockets Look To Extend Winning Streak Against The Hornets

As one of the hottest teams in the NBA prepares to play on Wednesday. Ok. Wait. I know you are saying to yourself, “Slow down sir. It was just one game.” Semantically speaking you are right. It was just one game to us, but to the Houston Rockets, that game meant everything.
On Monday, the Rockets finally broke their franchise-record 20-game losing streak with a 117-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
"It's indescribable for a win in March of this crazy season," said Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas. "I'm just so proud of the guys. When you're going through it and fighting so hard, you just see the disappointment in the player's faces after loss after loss after loss. And then to go into the locker room after (Monday's) game and everybody is just happy and joyous, it's really super cool and great."
Coach Silas wasn’t the only one elated to get the win against the Raptors. Center Christian Wood who missed the majority of the losing streak due to an ankle injury wanted to make sure that the media and fans knew exactly what it meant to get the win for coach Silas.
“My relationship with Stephen is, I came here for him,” Wood said. “He brought me in. To speak on yesterday (Monday), you never want to see a head coach like that. I’d rather see my head coach, how his face was today after this win, than how it was yesterday. I’m happy to see that.”
Wood, 25, used a 19-point second half performance to help seal the victory for Houston after having limited playing time in the first half due to early foul trouble. He wasn’t the only one who was determined to get a much-needed victory for Rockets as point guard John Wall finished the game with his first triple double (19 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) since March 2016.
“Everybody was engaged for the whole 48 minutes,” said Wall after the game. “We all cheered each other on. We haven’t had that type of spirit since our winning streak was broken.”
Houston will now face a Charlotte Hornets team who defeated them last month by a score of 119-94 in Charlotte in the Toyota Center without one of the key pieces to the Hornets success this season in rookie guard LaMelo Ball.
In the last meeting between the two teams, Ball finished with a career-high seven 3-pointers and was three rebounds shy of a triple double. The leading candidate for the 2021 Rookie of The Year Award underwent successful on his right wrist and will be out at least a month before the medical staff will reevaluate him. He sustained the injury against the Los Angeles Clippers in a loss on Saturday.
