Texans quarterback Davis Mills will be making his second start under center on Sunday against a team that thrives on putting pressure and making life rough for anyone taking snaps for the opposing team.

Mills, who was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Texans will be tested by a veteran Bills defensive group led by native Houstonian Ed Oliver and rookie defensive end Greg Rousseau who also leads Buffalo in sacks this season.

The Bills have emphasized becoming one of the best defenses in the NFL this season and after three games they have proven it by ranking fourth overall in the league and holding teams under 15 points (14.7) per game.

“They have a lot of experienced dudes on their defense,” said Mills who will be making his first road start of the season. “A lot of their guys have been in the system for a while, and they do what they do at a high level. I think as an offense just attacking that. We just got to go by our rules, and they are one of the teams that want to force you into check downs. Let’s spread the ball around, get the ball to our playmakers in space, and let them win the one on ones.”

One player who has been winning his matchups this season is Texans veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks whose 322 receiving yards ranks him third in the league. Mills will look to get the ball in his hands on Sunday, especially deep since Bills starting safety Jordan Poyer will not suit up against the Texans.

“Brandin is just a guy who is extremely willing to work,” said Mills. “He’s going to be there; I know he’s going to be in the right spot. A lot more often than not, he’s going to be beating the guy across from him. So, it’s just trustworthy targets.”
