On Monday, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker was named the American League Player of the Month for September-October. It is the first Player of the Month award of his career, and he became the first Astros player to win it since third baseman Alex Bregman won it back in August of 2019.
Tucker, 24, has been one of Major League Baseball’s hottest hitters since May 1, leading the American League in OPS (1.130), while driving in 19 runs and hitting eight home runs. His .438 on-base pct. and .692 slugging pct. both ranked second in the AL in that span.
The Florida native has also been one of MLB’s best defensive outfielders in the game, posting an MLB-best .948 Zone Rating while ranking fourth for his position in fielding pct. (.992).
Tucker will be in the lineup on Thursday when the Houston Astros take on the Chicago White Sox in Game 1 of the American League Division Series at Minute Maid Park.
