The Houston Astros had a record-setting launch with their Nike City Connect Space City Uniforms on Sunday, April 10. Fans will see the new Space City uniforms in action for the first time Wednesday as the Astros take on the Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park.
"We are excited and grateful that our fans and the city of Houston have embraced Space City, our first new uniforms in six years," said Anita Sehgal, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications. "The details and storytelling within the uniform is what really makes it special. Our Space City, City Connect uniforms are inspired by the spirit of Houstonians, while celebrating what makes us unique."
Houston had the best sales launch of any of the nine teams to unveil their City Connect uniforms thus far, with Space City Launch day. The launch beat the 2017 World Series Champion Gold Rush event by +73%. It was also the Astros Team Store's second-largest non-game day sales.
The Space City launch was larger than any regular-season game day, beating Opening Day 2018 following the 2017 World Series win.
Former A.L. MVP Jose Altuve's jersey was a fan favorite as it was the most popular player jersey sold on the launch day, followed by Alex Bregman and 2021 ALCS MVP Yordan Alvarez.
After wearing them on-field for the first time today, the Astros will wear the Space City jerseys every Monday at home throughout the season.
