Houston Texans offensive lineman Tytus Howard's picture was placed on the wall at Markham Complex at Alabama State University to honor the highest draft pick in school history.

As described by Merriam-Webster, one meaning of the word versatile is changing or fluctuating readily. If they had a picture illustration of the word, I am sure that it would be Houston Texans offensive lineman Tytus Howard smiling.

The former first-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama State University plays very well at either tackle position but has no problem switching to play guard if the team needs him to. He will play center if that's what Texans head coach Lovie Smith asked him to.

Howard was asked during his press conference on Tuesday what position he expects to play this season.

"As far as position-wise, I'm really just going to be playing wherever the team deems me the most valuable, whether it's guard or tackle," he said. "I've been working out this offseason to become a better player in both, so I feel pretty comfortable playing both."

Houston has the third overall pick in this year's draft, and three of the most highly sought-after offensive lineman, Ikem Ekwonu (NC State), Evan Neal (Alabama), and Charles Cross (Mississippi State), could be on the board when it is time for general manager Nick Caserio.

Having a player like Howard allows the Texans to think about bypassing an offensive lineman so high in the draft because he can play so many positions.

"Tytus Howard, he can play tackle, he can play guard," said coach Smith. "The more things you can do, absolutely, the more valuable you are to us and for your stock in general."

Howard, 25, is entering into the final year of his contract unless the Texans decide to pick up his fifth-year option.
