The centrally located you will find a 1902 country farmhouse transformed into a polished signature resort called Wine & Roses. Described as the ultimate Lodi Wine Country Destination, it is a seven-acre property offering 66 spacious rooms and suites, The (state-of-the-art) Spa at Wine & Roses with its extensive menu of services, and The Towne House Restaurant for fine dining located within the historic Tone House which is the centerpiece of Wine & property. In 1999, the current owners, Russ and Kathryn Munson acquired the property and developed the present resort. What I can describe as tranquil and stunning, the property is manicured with lush gardens, fountains, and resident exotic birds.

Experience Lodi Wines

Lodi is a center of wine grape production in California. Wine grapes have been grown in the area since at least the latter half of the 19' century, but for much of the time, until recently, Lodi has been known as a supplier of wine grapes to other popular regions rather than a producer of fine wines, even though the Lodi AVA was established in 1986.

However, a lot has changed in the last few year years and now Lodi growers are using their grapes to produce their own high-quality wines. This change has sparked the interest of more visitors than ever. Currently, Lodi is California's largest appellation- more than 550,000 total acres with more than 100.000 acres of vines and more than 750 growers.

Michael David Winery

Amongst those 750 growers are brothers Michael and David Phillips. The Phillips brothers are fifth-generation winemakers with their family farming fruits and vegetables in Lodi since the 1850s and have grown wine grapes for nearly a century. Together, the two are co-owners of Michael David Winery. Sitting on 750 acres, Michael David Winery is extensively managed and sustainability is their top priority next to creating some amazing wines. They are known for their cool labeling: Freakshow, 7 Deadly Zins, and Petite Petit to name a few. Stop by for a tasting and lunch at the winery building built in 1976 around the family's roadside fruit stand.

Mettler Family Vineyards

I thoroughly enjoyed Mettler Family Vineyards, owned and operated by the Mettler Family which has a long history in Lodi with vines dating back to the late 1800s. Mettler specializes in premium wines that you can enjoy in a state-of-the-art tasting room located on 8 lushly landscaped acres. In 2001 Larry Mettler, the present owner, released his first wine, a Cabernet Sauvignon. Presently, they are still widely known for their Cabernet Sauvignon; however, they also offer Petite Sirah and Old Vine Zinfandel in addition to growing and making Aglianico, Mourvedre, Pinotage, Albariño, and Chardonnay.

Bokisch Winery

At Bokisch, you will find delicious wines and a venue that is the star of the show. With an amazing staff, everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. In 2019 Markus and Liz Bokisch celebrated 20 years of making award-winning Spanish wines at Bokisch Vineyards. Markus pioneered the planting of Spanish varieties in California by bringing over budwood from Spain and planting it in Lodi soil in 1999. Inspired by his Catalan heritage and driven by a passion for organic and sustainable farming, he became one of the most prominent grape growers and authorities on Spanish grapes in the United States.
