The Houston Chamber Choir, a Grammy® Award-winning ensemble renowned for its musical excellence, is thrilled to announce that single tickets for their highly anticipated 2024-25 season, "30th Anniversary Season: From Startup to Standout," are now available. This landmark season, featuring a diverse lineup of eight concerts, celebrates the choir’s remarkable journey from its humble beginnings to its current status as a world-class vocal ensemble.

Under the baton of Founder and Artistic Director Robert Simpson and Artistic Director Designate Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, this season marks a poignant moment as Simpson prepares to step down after leading the choir for three decades. Weber, an internationally acclaimed choral conductor, will take the helm starting in the 2025-2026 season, promising exciting new directions for the ensemble.

Season Highlights:

1. The Son of Man" (Robert Simpson conducting)  

    Saturday, September 21; 7:30 p.m.

     Location: South Main Baptist Church, Houston 

   The season opens with the world premiere of "The Son of Man" by English composer Patrick Hawes, performed in collaboration with the Houston Symphony. This new work, based on both Old and New Testament texts, promises to captivate audiences with its rich melodies and dramatic flair, echoing the grandeur of Handel’s Messiah.

2.  Just Want to Celebrate! Songs from the ‘70s (Dr. Betsy Cook Weber conducting)        Saturday, October 19; 7:30 p.m.

       Location: Miller Outdoor Theatre, Houston

   Get ready to groove at this free outdoor concert celebrating the best of '70s pop music. Featuring hits from legends like ABBA, the Bee Gees, and the Jackson 5, this performance is set to be a nostalgic journey through a beloved musical era.

3. This Sky (Dr. Betsy Cook Weber)  

     Saturday, November 16; 7:30 p.m. 

     Location: St. Philip Presbyterian Church, Houston

   Explore the mysteries of the cosmos with a program that includes Kile Smith’s “Consolation of Apollo” and other stellar works. Enhanced with space-themed projections, this concert offers a visual and auditory experience that will inspire wonder.

4. Glory in the Highest: Christmas at the Villa (Robert Simpson)  

   December 7-8; Various times*

   Location: Chapel at the Villa de Matel, Houston 

   Celebrate the festive season with the Houston Chamber Choir in the stunning Chapel at the Villa de Matel. Joined by Paragon Brass and the Treble Choir of Houston, this holiday tradition features glorious choral and brass music perfect for the season.

5. 25th Annual “Hear the Future” Invitational Choral Festival** (Robert Simpson and Dr. Betsy Cook Weber)  

   Sunday, January 26, 2025; 4 p.m.

   Location: South Main Baptist Church, Houston

   Enjoy a free community concert showcasing the finest school and community choirs from the Houston area. This event highlights the Choir’s commitment to nurturing young musical talent and promoting choral music in the community.

6. Love Songs and Sonnets (Dr. Betsy Cook Weber)  

   Saturday, February 22, 2025; 7:30 p.m.

   Location: South Main Baptist Church, Houston

   Take a romantic journey through the ages with choral renditions of timeless love songs, from Renaissance madrigals to contemporary jazz and pop. This program explores the many facets of love through diverse musical styles.

7. From Darkness to Light (Dr. Betsy Cook Weber)  

   Saturday, April 5, 2025; 7:30 p.m.

   Location: South Main Baptist Church, Houston  

   Experience a powerful exploration of light emerging from darkness, featuring Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere and Arvo Pärt’s dramatic setting. This concert combines historical and modern choral works to create a moving and uplifting experience.

8. Gather ‘Round (Robert Simpson)  

   Saturday, May 31, 2025; 7:30 p.m. 

 Location: St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Houston 

   Conclude the season with a celebration of Simpson’s 30-year legacy. The Choir will perform beloved pieces from past seasons and preview their upcoming tour to Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.

Tickets and Subscriptions:
