Fort Bend Transit (FBT) has embarked on a significant development as it officially broke ground on its latest park and ride facility, the Westpark Park and Ride, on January 29, 2024. This project marks a pivotal moment for FBT's Commuter Service, enhancing connectivity for Precinct One commuters traveling from the Cinco Ranch area to the Energy Corridor. Anticipated for completion in November 2024, the Westpark Park and Ride will feature 262 parking spaces, a bus loading area with a canopy and restroom, and a dedicated right-turn lane. Selected firms for construction include SpawGlass as the project contractor, IDCUS as the project design engineer, and PGAL as the project architect. The strategic location off the Westpark Tollway positions the facility as a potential hub for regional transportation options. This initiative underscores FBT's commitment to providing efficient public transportation, with the Westpark Park and Ride joining existing facilities at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, the University of Houston – Sugar Land, and the AMC Theater at the First Colony Mall in Sugar Land under FBT’s Commuter Service umbrella.
