It’s often said that kindness is contagious—and Harmony School of Enrichment is ensuring it spreads like wildfire. This January, the school is diving headfirst into the Great Kindness Challenge, a global initiative that turns classrooms into breeding grounds for empathy, compassion, and unity.

From Monday, January 27th, through Friday, January 31st, Harmony School of Enrichment will join over 41,000 schools worldwide, representing more than 115 countries, in this transformative event. Last year, millions of students participated, proving that a simple act of kindness can ripple across communities, sparking a movement of goodwill.

Kindness: The Curriculum We All Need

“At Harmony School of Enrichment, we believe kindness is more than just an act—it’s a lifestyle,” said Principal Kaitlyn McIntyre. “The Great Kindness Challenge is an incredible opportunity to reinforce empathy, generosity, and togetherness among our students, staff, and families.”

This year, the school is leveling up its kindness game with a week packed full of activities designed to inspire and unite. Homeroom teachers will kick off each day with kindness-themed morning lessons featuring three lively options:

  • “Shake it Up”: Fun movement activities that encourage students to start the day with energy and positivity.
  • “Talk it Out”: Meaningful discussion prompts to deepen understanding and foster heartfelt connections.
  • “Do It”: Hands-on activities that bring kindness to life in creative ways.

The week begins with an inspiring video that sets the tone, reminding students that even the smallest acts of kindness—like sharing a smile or lending a hand—can leave a lasting impact.

From Friendship Bracelets to Coloring Posters: Kindness Kits in Action

Harmony classrooms will also receive Kindness Kits filled with supplies to spark creativity and collaboration. These kits include materials to make friendship bracelets, allowing students to exchange tokens of appreciation while strengthening their bonds. Additionally, a giant Kindness Coloring Poster invites students to leave their mark—literally—on a shared piece of art symbolizing their collective commitment to kindness.

Teachers are encouraged to use these resources during recess or classroom activities, ensuring every student gets a chance to participate. The result? A vibrant, interconnected community where kindness becomes second nature.

The Ripple Effect of Kindness

The impact of the Great Kindness Challenge goes beyond just one week. It cultivates a culture of kindness that students carry with them long after the event ends. For Harmony School of Enrichment, the challenge is part of a larger commitment to teaching life skills that matter, preparing students not just for academic success but for becoming thoughtful, compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

“We’re not just educating minds here; we’re nurturing hearts,” McIntyre emphasized. “When students learn to lead with kindness, the possibilities are endless.”

Join the Kindness Movement

Harmony School of Enrichment invites parents, families, and the entire community to join in on the celebration. Whether it’s volunteering, spreading positivity on social media, or simply practicing random acts of kindness, everyone can contribute to this powerful movement.

As the Great Kindness Challenge approaches, the school is ready to prove that kindness isn’t just an idea—it’s a revolution. And at Harmony School of Enrichment, every student is a revolutionary in the making.
