Maria Margarita Rojas is among others who were arrested for performing illegal abortions and operating multiple clinics without a license. She could face up to 20 years in prison as this is a second-degree felony.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton made the announcement of the illegal medical procedures charges this past Monday. He has plans to use the full extent of the law to bring all parties to justice.

This is the first arrest case in Texas using one of three abortion bans that went into effect in June 2022. In addition to the above-mentioned charges, Paxton may also add at least $100,000 per violation.
