This April, in honor of Autism Awareness Month, Children's Museum Houston and Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center are rolling out the red carpet for an inclusive, sensory-friendly experience designed to welcome children with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing differences, and learning variances. These special Sensory Friendly Days offer a museum environment where every child can explore, learn, and play—without overwhelming distractions.
With a focus on accessibility and comfort, both events will feature:
A relaxed, less crowded environment for stress-free exploration.
Reduced lighting and sound to create a calmer atmosphere.
Enhanced visual safety signage for easy navigation.
Designated quiet rooms for peaceful breaks.
KultureCity Sensory Bags available at the Welcome Center, complete with noise-reducing headphones, fidgets, a visual cue card, and an ID card with a breakaway lanyard.
Pre-registration is required to secure a spot for these extraordinary days of fun and discovery!
