Harmony Public Schools Slam Dunks Distracted Driving

Harmony Science Academy - Houston is taking the wheel in preventing needless traffic accidents. The school will host DUNK Distracted Driving Basketball Stunt Show Assembly featuring basketball performers along with an educational message on the dangers of distracted driving. EV Tech Completes First Phase of EV Charger Installation at South Texas Project in San Marcos

EV Tech, a national provider of EV Chargers, installation and service, and Front Half, LLC., announced today that a pair of high powered EV Chargers were installed at 1332 N. Interstate 35 Frontage Road in San Marcos, Texas, adjacent to the Texas Bean & Brew House. The EV Charger installation marks the completion of the first phase of electrification development on the 5.58-acre property. Future efforts will include two additional EV Chargers with four available ports, as well as rooftop solar panels, large-scale battery storage and a gas turbine to create a fully integrated microgrid.

The Periwinkle Foundation’s Camp Periwinkle hosted 130 campers at Camp For All in Burton, Texas, for a week-long, overnight camp for children ages 7-15 who are currently being treated or were previously treated for cancer at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center and their siblings. Since inception, Periwinkle’s signature program — Camp Periwinkle — has allowed over 5,000 campers to experience a week of pure joy, freedom and emotional healing.

Biden-Harris Administration Announces $4.5 million in Grants for Region 6 States to Upgrade Stormwater and Sewer Infrastructure

Under President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda, EPA program to offer grant assistance at no cost to small and financially distressed communities

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of approximately $50 million in grants through the Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant Program. Approximately $4,526,000 of that funding will be available for the Region 6 states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to help Region 6 communities address stormwater and sewer infrastructure needs.

Harris County Wins Court Order Temporarily Blocking Abolishment of Elections Office

A Travis County District Court has sided with Harris County on its request to temporarily block Senate Bill 1750—which abolishes the Harris County Elections Administrator’s Office—from going into effect. The court concluded Harris County is likely to prevail on its claim that SB1750 violates the Texas constitution’s prohibition on local laws, and issued a temporary injunction preventing state officials from enforcing the law until the lawsuit concludes.
