Judge orders MPD to release body cam video
Meredith Corporation, the owner of WALA FOX10 News, has just received word that it has won a lawsuit in pursuit for transparency from the city of Mobile, which means the city's police department will be required to release police body camera video of a particular incident in 2016, in which McGill-Toolen High School students were pepper-sprayed by a Mobile Police officer while painting the cannon at the Loop in midtown Mobile after a football game.

Grant Applications Now Open for Local Artists and Cultural Nonprofits In Need of Disaster Relief from Harvey Arts Recovery Fund
the Harvey Arts Recovery Fund (HARF), which supports Houston artists, performers, musicians and arts and culture organizations in need of disaster assistance. The second round of grant awards will be distributed this spring and the application is open from Feb. 15 to March 1, 2018 at www.harveyartsrecovery.org. Comcast will again award $1 million to small businesses owned by people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, among others, in Houston. This effort is part of the Comcast RISE Investment Fund program, a multi-year, multi-faceted initiative launched in late 2020 to support small businesses owned by people of color (POC) and provide the resources and tools they need today.

Governor Abbott, TDEM Announce Expansion of COVID-19 Antibody Infusion Center In Seguin
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), in partnership with local officials, will expand operations at an active COVID-19 therapeutic infusion center in Seguin. The infusion center, which opened on a small scale in December 2020 and transitioned to a larger operation, will further grow operations starting tomorrow. The expansion is expected to double the number of daily infusions from 25-30 to approximately 50.

Local small business asks community for help amid theft
A local small business is seeking help from the community to find two individuals that stole one of the most valuable items from their store. On Saturday afternoon, the thieves performed a 'grab and dash' at Fantasy Games in South Bend, taking with them a valuable collection of vintage Pokemon cards. The theft was all caught on surveillance video.

‘Unfortunate that it came to this,’ Brookline school teachers go on strike
Brookline teachers went on strike Monday and schools were closed. Teachers formed picket lines at all nine schools and at Town Hall after a weekend of negotiations with the school committee failed to produce a deal. A union representative said a mediation session is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
