Harris County Court Blocks Enforcement of Pre-Roe Laws
Today a Harris County court issued a ruling that temporarily bans certain prosecutors from enforcing Texas’s abortion bans that predate Roe v Wade. Attorney General Ken Paxon had previously said that prosecutors could pursue criminal charges based off these state laws that were not repealed.

Dinner, drinks, auctions (live and silent) along with music by Intercoastal Pirates point to an evening as entertaining as it is worthwhile. The S.P.C.A. of Brazoria County is a no kill shelter and as such has expenses that are above the norm. Add a massive flood event to the equation, and the need for funds is great and increasing.

Harris County Clerk Helps Families Obtain Vital Records for Back-to-School Birth Certificate Program a Success
The Harris County Clerk’s Office (HCCO) served dozens of families and issued 200 birth certificates during its second annual Back-to-School Birth Certificate Saturday events. This program is dedicated to help families obtain the necessary records to enroll their children in school. So far, HCCO has issued almost 1,200 birth certificates this summer.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George will host a series of community meetings to inform residents about the 2023 Fort Bend County Bonds that will appear on the November 7 ballot. The bond propositions consist of 98 mobility projects for Proposition A for a total of $712.6 million and Proposition B related to parks projects for a total of $153 million, resulting in a total bond amount of $865.6 million.

Former Harris County Jailer Charged With Manslaughter in Inmate Death
A former detention officer at the Harris County Jail was indicted Thursday and charged with felony manslaughter in the February 2021 death of a jail inmate, the first time criminal charges have been filed against a detention officer in an in-custody death at the jail.
