Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan obtained a court order on Friday shutting down Avani Lounge, an unlicensed bar in Southwest Houston. When Houston Police officers served the court order early Sunday morning, they found 600 patrons inside the bar with alcoholic drinks.

City Approves Agreement for Major Flood Mitigation Project
Houston City Council approved funding for a significant flood mitigation project today that will appropriate $15.2 million to the Inwood Detention Basin Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD). Healthy, fresh food should be affordable and accessible to everyone. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many Harris County residents. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 738,140 people in Harris County were considered food insecure, and at least 286,000 live in a food desert. As of January 2021, there are 360,000 children in Harris County experiencing food insecurity.
Flood Control District Monitoring Heavy Rainfall and Flooding
The Harris County Flood Control District is monitoring severe weather through the region. Overnight heavy and persistent rainfall occurred over far western Harris County into northern Fort Bend County where rain totals of 5-8 inches have fallen overnight from Jersey Village to Katy and resulted in significant street flooding and rises on area creeks and bayous.
