New degree takes root in PVAMU’s newly renamed College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

For Prairie View A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, the fall semester brings a new degree program and a new name. The Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) has enrolled its first students, and starting Sept. 1, the CAHS will be officially named the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR). The new name and degree program clearly align with the future and trajectory of the College.

$5 Million in ARPA Funding Invested in Arts and Cultural Organizations

Four months following approval by Houston City Council, 62 Houston Arts & Cultural organizations from across the City learned that their requested funding, up to $100,000, was approved. The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) was able to accomplish this effort in collaboration with Mid-America Arts Alliance, a trusted partner with a track record of helping the city efficiently distribute federal funds within the creative economy.

Red Cross Helps those affected by Hurricane Idalia

Hurricane Idalia made landfall yesterday morning in Taylor County, Florida and moved northeast through Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. More than 100,000 people are without power from the storm. Currently, Idalia is bringing heavy rainfall and flash flooding to portions of the Carolinas. The Red Cross pre-positioned more than 400 disaster responders and truckloads of supplies to support the communities impacted. Two volunteers from The Texas Gulf Coast Region will be heading to Tallahassee today and tomorrow to help those in need.
