Alaina Mayes

Alaina earned her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders from Stephen F. Austin State University where she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She now teaches 2nd grade at Beatrice Mayes Institute Charter School where she coaches cheerleading and is a part of various campus leadership organizations. Alaina has a personal blog, UnashamedGrowth, where she chronicles her struggles with infertility, her path through adoption, and spiritual growth in many areas of life. Alaina currently serves on the board of Sparkles of Life, Inc. an organization geared towards educating, supporting, and uplifting women and families enduring infertility.

School’s out for the summer!!! A shout of pure joy for teachers everywhere! Summer is finally here! Your child’s educators have sent them home for the very last time for just a few short months. And for the next few months, students are glad school’s out, but we are certain that at some point of the summer, the novelty of being able to wake up late will wane, playing outside will never get old but they’ll get bored with not having enough options to keep them entertained, and they will eventually whine “Mom, I’m bored!”
