Las Terrazas Resort in Belize; The Resort That Has Everything

Located 3.5 miles north of San Pedro, tucked away in the small country of Belize is a secret treasure called the Las Terrazas Resort. With its white sand beaches that go on for miles and tall palm trees swaying in the wind, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited on earth and one of the most tranquil. Hard to believe it is just two and a half hours away from the states. In order to get to Las Terrazas, I had to land at the main airport in Belize City, take another plane to a small island and board a boat to get to my final destination of paradise.
Those small trips set the stage for a great escape that started with me when I stepped onto the boardwalk for Las Terrazas. Hospitality was laid on thick from the moment of my arrival to my departure. And it’s wasn’t just I received special treatment as a member of the media but it is the attention given to every guest. An employee personally welcomes everyone to the resort. Upon my arrival, the General Manager Julian Burton with a cocktail featuring the island’s world class rum in tow greeted me.
Burton was the perfect example of what the employees represent that work at Las Terrazas Resort. He was engaging, plugged into everything that was taking place at Las Terrazas and loved the Resort. Before immersing myself in activity, Burton allowed me to get settled in my suite for the weekend. I don’t think I know the words to adequately describe how amazing my room was. My eyes darted back and forth as I viewed the big and roomy living room with mahogany furniture, fully functioning kitchen with cookware, two extravagant bathrooms, master and guest room and a view overlooking the Caribbean Sea. It was heavenly.
Night came quickly on my first day in Belize, which meant dinner was close to follow. I was in for a treat for my first meal at Las Terrazas. It was a buffet and rum tasting. The food was native to Belize with a featured mix between Creole dishes and Spanish dishes. It was scrumptious. The food had my taste buds dancing and I couldn’t wait to see what breakfast would be the next morning.
I was up and at 'em the next day to get a jumpstart on breakfast. I dined at the signature restaurant at the resort, O Restaurant and Bar. While my companion slept, I took a dip in the pool to eat poolside. I could have stayed all day but Belize is too pretty of a place to just sit in a pool all day no matter how nice it is.
The crew that took me on my snorkeling adventure dished out hospitality in a major way. The crew has the patience of Job and made every accommodation for passengers. Not being a fan of water, I tensed up. However, the crew eased my fears. I was so glad too because I was allowed to see beautiful coral reefs and an array of fish. For my first ever snorkeling trip, I felt so alive. The most terrifyingly beautiful thing about snorkeling were the sharks that swim right up to you. After spending all morning on the water, lunch was welcomed at the O Restaurant. Followed by a relaxing massage at the newly renovated Las Terrazas spa. Workers have magic hands as they relaxed every stress point in my body.
Feeling hungry, I made my way back to the boat for lunch with Chef Nolvin. Sitting poolside under a cabana, I devoured a three course meal. Sushi was the star of menu. My guest and I tried everything and each bite was a delicious journey for my tongue.
The next day was one of relaxation. I spent the day watching one of the local workers trying to teach me how to climb a coconut tree and I took in a tour of San Pedro Island, which you can get to by golf cart or boat. Wanting to experience every advantage possible on the island I took a tour guide with me.
I appreciated the fact that I didn’t have to convert my currency. English is the official language, which made communicating easy. You can also use American dollars and move around freely without feeling lost which can tend to happen in a lot of countries where you don’t speak the language.
A four course meal was served at my last dinner and one of my favs was being offered as the featured course. Since we were lucky that our trip was during wedding season, we dined on lobster bisque followed by fresh lobster tails and freshly caught fish. Finishing with a flaming dessert.
Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better experience than the one I received. Las Terrazas Resort is the perfect place for couples that are adventurous or simply want to lounge by a beach. I give it Five Style Points! Find out more information, online at www.lasterrazasresort.com.
