Creator, producer and host of This American Life, the iconic weekly public radio program, Ira Glass, brings an all-new lecture entitled Seven Things I’ve Learned: An Evening with Ira Glass to Houston. Using audio clips, music, and video, Ira Glass will share lessons from his life and career in storytelling on Saturday, May 12 in Jones Hall for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m.

In 1978, Ira Glass started working in public radio, when he was 19, as an intern at NPR’s headquarters in D.C. Over the next 17 years, he worked on nearly every NPR news show and did nearly every production job they had: tape-cutter, desk assistant, newscast writer, editor, producer, reporter and substitute host. Glass moved to Chicago in 1989 and put This American Life on the air in 1995.

Since its inception, This American Life has cultivated millions of listeners from around the world. The show is heard each week by over 2.2 million listeners on more than 500 public radio stations, with another 2.5 million downloading each podcast. Each episode is focused on a certain theme, such as love, politics, or family, and have compelling stories from people surrounding the theme.
