Law firm Kirkland & Ellis in Houston has donated 170 copies of the charity children's book “H is for Harvey” to be placed into every one of HISD’s elementary school libraries and early childhood centers.
The rhyming picture book will serve as a tool for HISD youngsters to "never forget" hurricane Harvey and how the devastating 2017 hurricane brought out the best in Houstonians, Texans and people everywhere as they helped one another rebuild the lives of those in our community.
One-hundred percent of the royalties from H is for Harvey go to The Astros Foundation for their ongoing Harvey relief efforts. The Astros provided a foreword for the book.
Kirkland and Ellis's Nina Dannenberg, Senior Director of Administration, said “I am absolutely delighted that we have the opportunity to support this. It is easily forgotten how Harvey (or any natural disaster) impacts people and how incomprehensible it must be for children. Bringing it together in book form is such a fantastic way to help them.”
Dannenberg and the team at Kirkland & Ellis worked with Kallie Benes, Curriculum Manager of HISD’s Department of Library Media Services, TCU Press who published H is for Harvey, and author Julie Beasley to secure the book donations.
