Imperial Calcasieu Museum (204 W. Sallier St., Lake Charles) is proud to announce the joining of Stefan Borssen as Executive Director and Jobi Arceneaux-Caldarera as Director’s Assistant.

Borssen comes to the Imperial Calcasieu Museum (ICM) with over five years of exhibition features within the Lake Area and diverse military experience spanning over nine years. Originally from Maine, Borssen found his way to Lake Charles after being stationed in New Mexico and then Fort Polk. He is a 2018 graduate of McNeese State University, where he obtained a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a Painting and Drawing Concentration, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Borssen has been featured in exhibits through McNeese State University student shows and has appeared in collaborative curations for the Henning Cultural Center and the ICM. He has held solo shows at the Sloppy Taco, the Art Associates Gallery of Lake Charles, and Houston area galleries, and has collections spanning from Florida to Washington.

Having held an intern position at the ICM during his collegiate years, Borssen is glad to be back to his roots on Sallier. The ICM is looking forward to the fresh ideas and continued growth of community-centered projects.

“I’m thrilled to be here. I fully believe in the Imperial Calcasieu Museum’s mission of preserving the rich cultural history while also leading the forward direction of the artistic involvement within the Lake Area," said Borssen, Executive Director. “We’d love to foster new connections within the community. We’re here not only to host exhibits which give a voice to local artists but also to present opportunities beyond these curations and outside of our walls.”

When not laying the groundwork for the future of the ICM, Borssen enjoys creating personal and commissioned artwork, spending time with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Charlotte, and designing intricately immersive board games.

"We’ve worked hard over the past two years to revitalize the ICM so that it may reach a new level of potential in serving Southwest Louisiana," said Michael Antoon, ICM Board of Directors President. “I’m very excited to see the new initiatives that Stefan will implement to cultivate community outreach. This is a key component of Stefan’s goals at the ICM. He and Jobi are the perfect people to pilot ICM into the future.”

A native of Southwest Louisiana, Arceneaux-Caldarera joins the team with several years of experience as an art instructor, manager, and social media coordinator. She is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a double minor in Humanities and Social Sciences from Nicholls State University. in 2021, she received a Digital Marketing certification from Loyola University New Orleans. She brings a fresh approach and several years of marketing experience to the team. Arceneaux-Caldarera's role will support the business development and marketing of the museum. In her spare time, she is an avid cook, hiker, and traveler.

"I am looking forward to cultivating a community of members, locals, and visitors, through my marketing and communications efforts, who have a profound appreciation for the Imperial Calcasieu's mission and history,” says Arceneaux-Caldarera, Director's Assistant.
