Texas Legislative Black Caucus Scholarship

I am pleased to announce that the Texas Legislative Black Caucus will be awarding over 60 scholarships to qualified and deserving students throughout Texas. There is an opportunity for two students in my district to be awarded the scholarship. The scholarships will be awarded to recipients on February 24, 2019 at the TLBC Gospel Scholarship brunch at the 2019 African American Legislative summit. Overlay Scheduled for Pizzitola and Rhea Streets

Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is pleased to announce Houston Public Works crews will be performing an asphalt overlay along Pizzitola Street, from Koenig Street to Debbielou Gardens Drive, and on Rhea Street, from the eastern dead end to Koenig Street. The ACLU of Texas and a coalition of civil rights and community organizing groups today sent a letter to the Texas Secretary of State, David Whitley, demanding that he rescind his Advisory purporting to identify non-citizen registered voters. The Advisory, released last Friday afternoon, claimed that 95,000 individuals identified by the Department of Public Safety as non-U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in Texas.
