An all-star lineup of gospel music's biggest names will be in concert on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the State Farm Arena. The list of artists set to perform include Yolanda Adams, Erica Campbell, Jekalyn Carr, Marvin Sapp, Keke Wyatt, Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbett, Travis Greene, Le'Andria Johnson, Keyondra Lockett, Bishop Cortez Vaughn and more! The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) will host the grand reopening of Brock Park on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from noon to 3 p.m. Brock Park is located at 8201 John Ralston, Houston, TX 77078 in northeast Houston. The new Brock Park has been reimagined as an adventure park, featuring amenities like a ropes course, Ninja Warrior course, a kayak/canoe launch, nature-based programming, and enhanced site security. The park is the first of its kind in the City of Houston.

High School Uses Davinci 12 to Color-Correct & Grade
Jack Yates High School, the second oldest African American high school (1923) in the Houston Independent School District, is the only high school in the country to have a full Davinci Resolve 12 system with the break out panels. Students just completed hard work on their first PSA/short film with color correction and grading.

The Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated presented 31 outstanding debutantes and seven stags to society at its 29th Biennial Debutante Ball at the Hilton Americas — Houston on Sunday, January 1, 2017. The president of the Houston Chapter is Mrs. Lisa Harris. Ms. Connie L. Cochran served as chairman and Mrs. Annette Bracey, Mrs. Erica Craven Fazande, Dr. Jocelyn Greely, and Ms. Colette Loeb served as co-chairmen. Melinda Spaulding, news anchor for KRIV Fox 26, and Dr. Austin Lane, president of Texas Southern University served as masters of ceremony. As each debutante was introduced to society, she was promenaded around the dance floor where she thanked her mother with a long stemmed red rose before performing sophisticated waltzes with her escort and father. Each stag was escorted by his mother as he was presented.

Former NBA superstar J.R. Smith enrolled at North Carolina A&T and is set to play golf for the Aggies, Blavity reports.
Smith is a two-time NBA champion, winning one with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. Now that he has retired from the league, he’s decided to pursue a degree in liberal studies at North Carolina A&T. Smith said he also has plans to join the golf team.
