HISD statement on ballot error
The Houston Independent School District is aware of an error regarding the name of a District VII Board of Education candidate on the upcoming November 2, 2021, election ballot. Mr. Lee Macerlaen Walker's application was filed in the Office of Board Services on Monday, August 16, 2021, and he was notified of its acceptance via certified letter on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Mr. Walker's legal name is Lee Walker, but he asked to be identified as Mac Walker on the ballot.
Houston METRO Bond Proposal Election: Voters Favor Measure
Houston voters appeared to favor a $3.5 billion bond proposal intended to fund METRO projects with the aim of improving public transportation systems and easing traffic congestion in the city.

HISD Statement On Safety Protocols

Harris County Clerk Launches New Public Service Announcement “Vote Early and Stay Safe”
The Texas Supreme Court ruled that a lack of immunity to COVID may be considered as a factor in determining whether in-person voting creates a “likelihood of injury” to the voter’s health, but it cannot be the sole factor. It is the responsibility of voters to make their own health determinations, and the County Clerk’s Office does not have the authority or ability to question the voter’s judgment. If a voter applies for a mail ballot and checks one of the four categories of eligibility, the County Clerk’s Office will send you a ballot.

UT-Austin). Filed on May 16, 2019—on the eve of the 65th anniversary of Brown v. Board—this latest attack follows two prior, failed challenges by Blum in both federal and state courts to eliminate UT-Austin’s individualized consideration of race in its admissions program.

Kroger Announces Free Covid-19 Drive Through Testing Site Partnerships Across Houston
Kroger will partner with Montgomery County, City of Houston and Harris County to offer no-cost Covid-19 testing.
Kroger today announced five free COVID-19 testing sites across Greater Houston and Montgomery areas. Kroger will partner with the City of Houston, Harris County and Montgomery county to provide free testing for all priority groups, including healthcare workers, first responders and symptomatic groups. The sites join Kroger’s existing sites across several states, including Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
