The ACLU of Texas and a coalition of civil rights and community organizing groups today sent a letter to the Texas Secretary of State, David Whitley, demanding that he rescind his Advisory purporting to identify non-citizen registered voters. The Advisory, released last Friday afternoon, claimed that 95,000 individuals identified by the Department of Public Safety as non-U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in Texas.

Texas remains to be one of the most difficult states for people to register to vote in.

New voters have until Tuesday, October 11 to register to vote so they are eligible to cast a ballot in the November 8 midterm election.
