February 17, 2020: The Houston Sauce Pit is introducing barbecue lovers to a whole new way to enjoy the smokey seductive taste of BBQ, without the meat, in the city’s first Vegan BBQ Food Truck!

The Houston Sauce Pit Vegan BBQ Truck is a project of Houston Sauce Co.’s Jarrett Milton and Courtney Lindsey, who are winning over carnivores with Texas BBQ dishes that share the same delicious taste as pork butt and brisket, but are 100% vegan!

“We didn’t start out vegan, but Courtney and his wife went vegan about three years ago,” said co-owner Jarrett Milton. “We were inspired by some of the vegan barbecue food in Austin and knew we could create some delicious, smokey meatless versions of our favorite barbecue items to bring Vegan BBQ to Houston. We’ve had a great response so far and, whether you’re vegan or not, you’ll be amazed at the taste of our food!”

The Houston Sauce Pit truck made its debut last month and has been selling out within hours, to a crowd that is only about 60% vegan! The truck features a full menu of hand-crafted meatless barbecue dishes like the Chopped “Veef” Baker (loaded potato), Loaded Brisket Mac (bed of mac & cheese topped with vegan brisket), Smoked Link Loaded Mash (traditional mashed potatoes topped with smoked Beyond Meat sausage links, BBQ sauce and green onions), Smoked Links (vegan sausage), BBQ Smoked Wangs (vegan wings), Chopped Veef and Smoked Link “Sammiches” and sides like Mac N’ Cheese, Potato Salad, BBQ Baked Beans, Pit Chips, Brussel Sprouts w/”Bakon”, and BBQ Smoked Loaded Elote (corn on the cob)!

The new Vegan BBQ Truck is open every Thursday from 6pm-11pm at 4402 Emancipation Blvd. and will roam across the city with specialty pop-ups in different locations each week.
