Overlay Scheduled for Pizzitola and Rhea Streets

Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is pleased to announce Houston Public Works crews will be performing an asphalt overlay along Pizzitola Street, from Koenig Street to Debbielou Gardens Drive, and on Rhea Street, from the eastern dead end to Koenig Street. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of February 11, 2019 and be is expected to be complete by the end of March 2019, weather permitting.

Kick Off Pride Month in Houston with Urban South

Urban South - HTX is kicking off Pride Month with a party at its Sawyer Yards taproom on Saturday, June 4. From 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. CST, the brewery will celebrate with live music from DJ Uri; pop-up shops courtesy of the vendors at HTX Market; drag performances by Angelina DM Trailz, Alyanna IV Bones and Kalani Ross Khalo; and fabulous menus from Blank Flag Project, Tilde Means Tilde and TeaGu Cafe. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to The Montrose Center, a nonprofit organization empowering Houston’s LGBTQ community to enjoy healthier and more fulfilling lives through education, resources, services and support.

Sam Houston State Fans Grab Your Bobblehead Now

The officially licensed Sam Houston Bearkats Bobblehead was unveiled today in conjunction with National Bobblehead Day, which is celebrated annually on January 7th. mascot, Sammy Bearkat. The special edition bobblehead featuring the university mascot, Sammy Bearkat, is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

City of Houston Street Rehab Initiative Scheduled in Northshore

Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin would like to make Northshore area residents aware Houston Public Works will begin a street rehabilitation project on Monday, November 8th, beginning on Grand Oaks Drive. The scope of work includes rehabbing the concrete streets of Grand Oaks Drive, Joliet Street, Halifax Street, and Fawn Drive. The cost of the project is $720,000 and is funded through the Dedicated Drainage and Street Renewal Fund. The project is a result of Mayor Turner's Street Rehab Initiative that was launched in September 2020.
