Kennedy Edwards made history over the weekend when she was crowned as the first ever African-American Miss Texas Teen USA in the pageant’s 35-year history. Edwards, who holds the title for 2018 Miss Houston USA, advanced to the Miss Texas USA 2019 pageant that was held over the weekend. This was only the second pageant for Edwards who previously won the Miss Houston Teen USA pageant. She beat out over 100 other Texas teen beauties after competing in the areas of interview, athlete wear, evening gown, and on-stage question. Now Edwards will spend a year representing making appearance, preparing to compete for Miss Teen USA, and balancing her life as a freshman college student at Howard University. Ladies wanting to follow in Edwards’s shoes can start now by applying to be Miss Houston Teen USA 2019 at the open call auditions to be held Saturday, December 15th at 2pm at MISS Academy, 1111 Uptown Park Blvd Ste. 12.
