Governor Abbott Announces Changes To Senior Staff
Governor Greg Abbott today announced changes to his senior staff as the transition to the interim and preparations for the 2019 legislative session begin to take place. The Governor’s long-time Chief of Staff, Daniel Hodge, will be transitioning to the private sector and will be replaced by Luis Saenz, who prior to his most recent position as the Founder of Saenz Public Affairs, served as Governor Abbott’s Appointments Director. August 27, 2017, was one of those nights that I didn’t sleep. The threat of Hurricane Harvey looming and the fact that no one could reach my dad kept me up. I stayed up all night watching the news (KTRK Ch.13) and checking for updates on the water levels of the Hunting Bayou. Houston is bayou city and the majority of my family lives by Hunting Bayou. Running less than a block from my family’s homes also known as the Compound since within the area my father, mother, two sisters, brother-in-law, aunt, cousin and some renters all live. I even used to live in one of the houses there as well.

1,500 Youth to Benefit from Youth Development Program
The U.S. Soccer Foundation (The Foundation) recently awarded a $175,000 grant to the Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Soccer for Success program. Funds will be used to provide field equipment and player kits to 1,500 participants and provide for instruction and implementation of the program. The program is available to youth ages 6 – 14 at 24 school and park sites and one Boys and Girls Club location.
