ACLU of Texas Comment on Rejection of the State’s Preemptive ‘Sanctuary Cities’ Lawsuit

Yesterday the U.S. District Court in Austin rejected the State of Texas’s extraordinary attempt to have SB 4, the law banning so-called sanctuary cities, declared constitutional before it takes effect. According to the court’s ruling, “the State has not shown the existence of actual or imminent injury,” and any decision by the court would be improperly premature. The dismissal leaves the fate of SB4 to be determined by a federal court in San Antonio, where the ACLU is representing the lead plaintiffs.

I remember losing some very good friends during that stupid war. Oh, how I wish they were still here. Perhaps the agony of the times brought on this Sexual Revolution.

Assets of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Sold for $15.3 Million

Houston based private equity firm ZT Wealth recently announced that they have exited their portfolio entity ZT Restaurants, L.P. for $15.3 million, implying an EBITDA multiple of 7.19x. In this liquidity event, ZT Restaurants, L.P. sold its assets of world-renowned Quick Service Restaurants brand, Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen. ZT Restaurants, L.P. partners will make over a 25% return in addition to their original investment. The investment has generated an IRR of over 23%, which includes 10% cash on cash distributions during the investment life cycle.
