Measuring Stick: Houston Texans vs New England Patriots
The Houston Texans will take on Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots in their second preseason game. It will be a good test for the Texans as the Patriots have set the bar for excellence in the National Football League. Hopefully, some of that will rub off on Houston as they get a chance to witness first-hand how a champion prepares for the season.
Going Camping: Houston Texans Open 2017 Training Camp in West Virginia
The Houston Texans started training camp in unfamiliar territory. The franchise decided to hold the majority of their 2017 camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and it will be the first time in franchise history (15 years) that training camp will be held outside the city of Houston. There will be a total of fifteen training camp practice sessions that the residents of White Sulphur Springs can attend to see the reigning 2016 AFC South Champions. The Aug. 15 – 16 sessions will be joint practices with the Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots.

In a short 60-game season, multiple game losing streaks sticks out like a sore thumb. For the Houston Astros, a team that has been plagued by multiple injuries this season, they have picked the worst possible time to standout as they are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. Their woes continued on Monday night as they dropped another game back in the standings by losing to the A.L. West division leaders Oakland A’s. Houston (21-20) lost to Oakland (24-14) by a score of 6-0 in Oakland. That brings the Astros road record to 5-14 away from Minute Maid Park.

There was an old familiar face in the Toyota Center on Tuesday night. Rockets superstar James Harden made his 2020-21 NBA season debut in a 112-98 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs. After missing the beginning of training camp and two preseason games played in Chicago due to NBA COVID-19 protocol, Harden finished the night with 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds in 21 minutes.
