Music / Def Jam Recordings artist, Big Sean, announced today his North American headlining “Unfriendly Reminder Tour”, which is set to kick off April 12th in Orlando, FL. The multi-city trek produced by Live Nation will hit a number of major U.S. cities including Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York and Detroit. The outing will feature direct support from acclaimed rapper Playboi Carti, along with opening sets from Shy Glizzy and GASHI. Big Sean will perform fan favorites spanning his entire discography, going beyond a normal album tour. The 31-city tour is scheduled to wrap June 3rd in Toronto, Canada. Chadwick Boseman struggled to catch his breath after he was cast as Black Panther. When he first tried on his spandex suit for 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” it felt too restricting. “It was suffocating,” recalls Boseman. “Literally, it closed off every possibility of air getting to you. I was in it, put the mask on. I said, ‘Hey, you got to get me out of this!’” By the time he headlined his own movie, as the first black Marvel superhero with his name on the poster, Boseman was more comfortable in his re-engineered costume. “I think it begins to feel like skin after a while,” says the 41-year-old actor. “But it takes time to get to that place.”

Obsidian Theater Presents For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf
Once described by New York Daily as, "A triumphant event, filled with humor. Pure theatre" and Time Magazine as "A poignant, gripping, angry and beautiful work,” it is obvious that For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, lives up to its raving reviews. So, when I heard the Obsidian Theater was bringing the production to Houston, it was no doubt that I had to be there. Having seen the movie by director Tyler Perry, I knew what I was in store for but I was not prepared for how deep the cast would dive into their roles.

Dr. Charles V. Hamilton, a political scientist, activist and Professor Emeritus at Columbia University best known for his 1967 book co-written with Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael), Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America, has established The Drs. Charles V. and Dona C. Hamilton Institute for Research and Civic Involvement at the DuSable Museum of African American History. The DuSable is scheduled to open the Hamilton Institute’s Reading Room on Monday, February 19, 2018 with a special dedication event.
