Panthers Look To Rebound Against The Huskies
Prairie View A&M (1-1) will square off against an unfamiliar foe in their home opener when they face Houston Baptist University (0-2) on Saturday in their home opener at Panther Stadium. It will be the first time both teams have met since HBU began its football program in 2013. It has been almost a month since the Texans lost in the divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs. Normally it would take a complete cycle of OTA’s and training camp for the football fans in Houston to get over the loss. Most fans would start looking over the list of free agents that would be available and hoping that new general manager and head coach Bill O’Brien would bring in players to improve the team. Anything to help pass the time until the first game of the 2020 NFL season.

One Game at a Time
Houston gets a much-needed victory over the Nationals in Game 3 of the 2019 World Series.
During their run towards “Back to Back” NBA titles, the Houston Rockets ran into some serious trouble against the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Semifinals. Houston went down in that series 3-1 and was on the brink of elimination in Game 5. The overall theme from the head coach all the way down to the last player on the bench was to take it one game at a time. Don’t jump ahead. Just win the game you are playing, and you will earn the chance to play another one with the same opportunity.

The Houston Texans look to rebound after such a heartbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night (30 -28) in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Houston will take on AFC South divisional rival, Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at NRG Stadium in their first home game of the 2019 NFL season. The Texans look to make it three- straight against the Jags after winning the last two meetings (20-7, 20-3).

You ever heard the phrase, “Love and Hate” relationship? It’s a phrase frequently used by siblings, best friends, college roommates, teammates, etc. Two people who have a genuine love for one another, can’t stand each other at times but doesn’t want to see each other hurt. That last sentence would describe the relationship that players, fans, and alumni from Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University have for each other.

Texans hold joint practice with the Detroit Lions
The Houston Texans resumed training camp today, with a joint practice with the Detroit Lions who is in town early for their preseason matchup with the Texans on Saturday at NRG Stadium. With the fans looking on, the competition got a little heated at times with trash talking by both teams being heard by fans, but it was all in fun. Here are a couple of things I noticed from today’s practice.
2019 SWAC Media Day
The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) held its annual Media Day with one of the biggest issues being addressed by SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland. The conference has announced the permanent future of its football championship game which will be played at the home site of the highest ranked team at the conclusion of the regular season.

The Houston Texans wrapped up their final OTA’s practice at the Houston Methodist Training Center. Now the free agents who were invited to participate in the all voluntary drills will wait to hear back from the Texans for the chance to participate in training camp. Those who do will have an opportunity to be a part of the organization for the regular season.
Leslie Alexander Puts Houston Rockets Franchise On the Market
“It’s been my great joy and honor to own the Houston Rockets for the past 24 years.” These were the words spoken by current Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander in a prepared statement as he announced his plans to sell the franchise. Alexander purchased the team in July 1993 for $85 million (currently valued at $1.65 billion) from Charlie Thomas. The sale of the team came right after the Rockets were coming off a grueling seven game series against the Seattle Supersonics and it came at a time when Houston was in desperate need of an identity.
