Prairie View A&M University Again Breaks Records for Freshman Enrollment
For the second year in a row, Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) is on pace to again exceed its enrollment goal. The university is currently trending 8% ahead of last year’s certified enrollment of 8,762. That surge is driven in large part by a nearly 15.0 percent increase in the number of first-time, full-time freshmen. Additionally, PVAMU has noted a 2-4% increase in retention for continuing students.

Governor Greg Abbott has asked the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) to declare Hockley County a disaster area following severe storms, winds, heavy rain, hail, and flooding that impacted the area beginning on June 30th, 2017 and continuing through July 4th, 2017. 'Some remains' of Missing 10 Sailors Found After Collision, Admiral Says
'Some remains" of 10 missing US sailors have been found after the collision between the US destroyer John S. McCain and an oil tanker near Singapore, US Navy Adm. Scott Swift said Tuesday. Navy and Marine Corps divers found the remains in the sealed compartments aboard the McCain, said Swift, commander of the Pacific Fleet. The Royal Malaysian Navy has also located one body, and officials are working to determine if it is one of the missing sailors, he said. Divers have also located others.
