Prairie View A&M put the rest of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) on notice that they will be a force to be reckoned with this season. They picked up right where they left off last year by displaying their very aggressive and high-octane offense in the 35th Annual Labor Day Classic.
“Count Me In” by Varsha Bajaj
There are a few kids in your class that you usually try to ignore. That’s because they’re kinda mean. They call others names, knock books out of their hands, and say racist or hurtful things. They’re bullies, and you avoid them as much as possible, but as in the new book “Count Me In” by Varsha Bajaj, could there be something you don’t know?
Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern Square Off In the 35th Labor Day Classic
You ever heard the phrase, “Love and Hate” relationship? It’s a phrase frequently used by siblings, best friends, college roommates, teammates, etc. Two people who have a genuine love for one another, can’t stand each other at times but doesn’t want to see each other hurt. That last sentence would describe the relationship that players, fans, and alumni from Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University have for each other.

Dana Holgorsen, the new head football coach for the University of Houston, apparently wasn’t as qualified for the position as Dr. Kevin Simms, who claims in a recently filed lawsuit to have to have 30 years of coaching experience -- despite nothing showing up on a Google search. Seeking actual, general and exemplary damages, Simms filed suit against UH on Aug. 15 in Harris County District Court.

The idea of the first draft starts to formulate at a young age. As your opinion changes, adjustments are made with the passage of time. Finally, the moment comes when the final rendition is made. AboutThatCar.com: 2019 Hyundai Elantra Sport
The Hyundai Elantra Sport was a great car. Never mind its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that made 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Never mind that it had a smooth shifting six-speed manual transmission.
When It Rains, It Pours
Texans lose 34-0 to the Cowboys
There is an old saying that I heard growing up that is drenched (no pun intended) in negativity that states, “When it rains it pours.” The original phrase is an old English proverb, “It never rains but it pours,” suggested that when troubles come, they come one after the other.

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien is right in the Matt Kalil situation
When I was a teacher I use to give out different projects throughout the year that had a completion date in order for the student to receive a grade. Most of the time that due date was at least six weeks out from the day I assigned the project.
The Hungry Free Summer
School bells ringing are a bigger relief for some families than just getting children out of the house. It means that their children will have two well-balanced meals a day at school. One in six children across America doesn’t know where their next meal will come from. Texas is a distant 43rd for children’s overall well-being with a devastating 25% of the children living in poverty. Houston ranks second in the nation for children living with food insecurity. Harris County has the second highest rate of child food insecurity in the nation. A hungry free summer seems unobtainable but in summer 2019 it was made possible.

A federal civil rights lawsuit (see attached) has been filed today against the Pearland ISD, a School Discipline Clerk, Head Principal Tony Barcelona, and teacher Jeanette Peterson who May 17, 2019 used a jet-black permanent marker (Sharpie) to blacken the scalp of a never-before-disciplined 7th grader’s head (95 lbs., 4 ft., 11 in.) because they claimed his common African American “fade” haircut with innocuous line design violated the Pearland ISD dress code policy.

Improve Academic Outcomes through Access to Health Care Coverage
With each school year, parents dust off their annual checklists that help them organize their needs as their kids head back to the classroom. This school season, make sure one priority at the top of your to-do list is ensuring your children have health insurance.
Film Review: Brian Banks
In this #MeToo age, a biofilm about a wrongfully convicted high school football player, who was accused, tried and imprisoned for rape, is timely.
